Here's a Big 'Ole Muse Therapy Welcome to My Inaugural Guest Blogger...Kayelle Allen!!!

I'm Kayelle Allen and I am captive to my muse. Does that sound like the opening line at an AA meeting? Hmm. A twelve-step for freedom from my muses. That would be welcome indeed. Allow me to introduce them.

Both are characters from my books.

Pietas is the one who holds the devil's pitchfork but wears a halo. He tells me, "You know you want to do this. What's it going to hurt? You need to stretch your wings and try something new." Sounds good at first look, but Pietas isn't talking about writing. He's talking about everything but writing. "You know you want to read this book. It's great research. Oh, look! A great movie is on. You should watch that first. Study how the characters handle conflict. Make some popcorn while you're up." Uh-huh.

Luc is my good (?) muse. He's the one who dares me to write a scene where he stands up to Pietas and wins. Every time I try, Luc thinks it through, realizes that he has too much to lose, and ends up back peddling away from the confrontation.

Don't get me wrong. Luc's not intimidated by anyone else. In the rest of his life he's the master of all he surveys. However, Pietas is the leader of their people, he used to be in love with Luc (and claims to still care for him), but the ruler is also well known for his cruelty and devious ways. Humans who have interfaced with him over the millennia call him the Hammer of God, Soulripper, and the Beast. He's particularly fond of Soulripper.

Now, considering these are my muses, to whom I turn for inspiration, it's a miracle I write anything at all, other than a note to slip under the door saying "help… me…" ^_^

One thing I've learned over the past few years since I was first published is that you can't write only when you're inspired. Author Jack London wrote, "You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club." More and more, I believe that.

Waiting for something to happen is not my style. There are three kinds of people. Those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened. I'm the former. Why wait? Go grab your success and claim it. It's your life, after all. Who is better qualified?

I'm looking forward to having D.D. Scott come to my yahoo groups and teach us the secrets of Muse Therapy. Both mine could use it. Thankfully, I'm such a solid, well-rounded individual that I won't need therapy myself. Except maybe for that tendency to exaggerate. Not lie, mind you. That's altogether a different thing. Uh… I'll shut up now. I think that was Pietas talking.

And here's the scoop on my fabulous inaugural guest blogger:

Kayelle Allen released two books in March, At the Mercy of Her Pleasure on 3/23, and The Last Vhalgenn on 3/24. Her next book, For Women Only, is due June 1st, and she has one more in edits now for release later in the year. She's already hard at work on a sequel to Surrender Love and Surrender Trust, and hopes to have another trilogy finished by the new year. Kayelle is a multipublished romance author whose worldbuilding skills include a broad sweep of ten-thousand years of future history, a feline language, and tradestandard laws for the empire where her books take place. Her writing lures you inside each hero's head and seduces you with what he feels and thinks. She thrusts you into the hero's heart and mind, teases and satisfies you with his sexuality and sensual joys, and drags you onto the roller coaster with him when it plunges into the darkness of things-gone-wrong. When you and the hero get off the ride at the end, it's Kayelle's hope you'll be back in line when the next ride starts.

    Welcome to www.DDScott.com , Kayelle!

I'm thrilled to host you (and your muses too!) as my first Muse Therapy guest bloggers!

And boy have you nailed a huge part of Muse Therapy when you mentioned that as writers, we can't afford to wait to write when and if we're inspired!

Not only do we have to go find what makes our muses tick, but we've then got to continuously harness that creative energy and turn it into fabulous words on our pages.

Like you said too, sometimes it feels like we have to take a "club to" our muses. LOL!

In Muse Therapy, I think of it as reining in your creative divas by pampering 'em silly 'til they're dancin' their asses off...perhaps at some fun and fabulous "club".

And I show you how to get to that place of productive paradise with LOL creative exercises such as: Collaging to "Unleash Your Inner Sybil" and Using Bitchy Signs to ward off the "Writing Bi-Polar: I Suck vs I'm a Genius" moments.

Can't wait to see you and your muses "in therapy" at your Romance Lives Forever Yahoo Group in April and at your Marketing For Romance Writers Yahoo Group in June!

Thank you for hosting me, D.D. I had fun writing about my two muses. I wonder how many people have more than one running around in their heads? In a way, each of my characters is a sort of muse. Which means I prolly *do* need therapy...

Can't wait to take your therapy classes. I need help. Yeah... this does sound like AA. Not that I'm a member cos I never needed help. Not help quitting drinking, anyway. Because I didn't start if you know what I mean. Not that it's bad for people to drink, it's just bad for those who have addiction problems, and who need AA or who... I'm going to shut up before my foot is in my mouth up to the knee. ^_^

Did I mention I suffer from comedy overload at times? It runs in my family. We don't know when to... Oh, right. Time to shut up. Lips are zipped. Sort of, in a manner of speaking. *Right.*

    Kayelle ---

Did I happen to mention that one of the sessions in Muse Therapy is about being a neurotic writer?! LOL! Check out the title of that "therapy" session:

What Do You Mean I'm Neurotic? No, I'm Not. Well, Not Exactly. But Okay...There Are Times When. Like You Need To Know That. Anyway, I Was Thinking. My Jeep Is Red

Ohhhh yeahhhh, Girlfriend...I'll sooo be seeing you in that session...LOL!!!

Hello, D.D. and congrats on your first guest blogger. I like your blog and plan to make it a daily visit.

Per Kayelle's post on RLF, "I'll shut up now. I think that was ____." The dumbest thing you've ever said...

Yeah, that's why I'm a reader and you folks are writers... I'm so pathetic...

    Pietas talking.

That finishes the line I believe.

I did enjoy reading about Luc and Pietas. I am very glad you have the muses that you do.

LOL My Jeep Is Red.... reminds me of that expression "What do you mean I have ADD...oh look, a chicken!"

Muse therapy sounds great, and Kayelle really started off this blog with her own world-building style!

I love that line about the ADD and the chicken. The joke at our house is "Of coure, I'm paying atten- oooh, shinies!" LOL

I've been looking forward to Muse Therapy since I heard about it last year. My muses need it. I, of course, am completely normal. No, wait, that can't be right. I came up with Luc and Pietas. Okay, scratch that. And by the way, my best friend's jeep really is red.
