    Hello, Universe! It's Me...D. D. Scott

"Hey, Universe! It's me...D. D. Scott. I'm ready for great things. Send them my way."

That's it in a big 'ole nutshell. That's all you gotta do. One of the most profound life lessons I've stumbled upon, and it's condensed into one, power-packed and energy-abundant line or two. Now that's fabulous!

Harlequin Blaze author Tawny Weber taught me this terrific life tip just a couple weeks ago when we were discussing ways to court our muses. I'm blogging about it because in less than a month, the concept has changed my life.

Tawny told me about the power of intention - a concept I'd also been working with through The Chopra Center's Deepak Chopra and Dr. David Simon. But her take on the vital energy created by simply thinking about and visualizing your creativity and success held a power over me that just won't let go.

She explained how I could put in a call to the Universe, summonsing its energy to empower me to achieve my intentions. And wow is it working...and in both expected and completely unexpected ways.

    Here's the scoop:

I knew May would be a HUGE month for me because Jupiter and Neptune are doing some astrological bootscootin' they only do every thirteen years or so. Actually, they're doing this dance three times in 2009 so ohhhh yeahhh, look out, I'll be making gigantic D. D. Scott waves from now on...but I digress.

Let me get you back to my point here...I take Tawny's Courting Your Muse class, and she teaches me to put my publishing career intentions into the Universe and summons the energy out there to help me succeed.

Two days after reading Tawny's advise then sitting down with the Universe and having a chat with a gin and tonic and fabulous sunset to complete the scene, I walk into a beyond fabulous crystal and glass boutique in New Buffalo, MI and meet a woman I'm pretty sure the Universe put in my path to keep me steadfast on my creative journey.

The beautiful, uber stylish woman was Basia, a bubbling jewel of inspiration and creative energy. We were talking about her glass designs...which, btw are gorgeous, must-have beacons of light and positive energy flow...when she, out of nowhere, told me "well, you know, Honey, you just throw your intentions into the Universe, get 'em out there and see what happens".

My insides shimmered with recognition and hope hearing Basia's unsolicited advice. I'd never heard that approach until Tawny showed me the way...then, to hear it told back to me within days of my cocktails with the Universe, I was beyond blown away. (Just ask Sweet Man. He was with me. We were forced to stop for green tea and chocolate on the way home while me and my muses rambled on and on about what all this meant. Don't worry. Sweet Man already knows I'm nuts, another thing Basia told me about herself that I could totally relate to and a similarity I think Sweet Man found refreshing as he realized he wasn't the only man loving a creative diva. LOL!!!)

Oh, and one more Basia tidbit, she had a copy of Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way" on a display table amongst her chakra crystals...the very book I digest over and over...the one that allowed me to finally rid my life of the wet blankets and crazymakers dragging me down paths I wanted no part of.

I know...you've got to be feeling the same goosebumps I did...what an uncanny, karma connection.

One final thought then I'm off to visit with my characters and bring their lives into the Universe on the pages of my next novel in progress...

Besides meeting Basia, my little Universe talk has manifested itself in a couple other ways too. I confirmed dates in September for teaching my first online Muse Therapy class for the RWA Chick Lit Writers of the World and am looking forward to several additional opportunities that presented themselves for both online and live workshops. In addition, my agent thinks May might turn out to be a huge month too for securing my first book deal.

So much for Mercury in retrograde...I'm hanging tough and dancing with the stars!

    Spring, BICHOK, and Timer-Writing

TGIF, Everyone, and Happy Spring too!!!

The nicer the weather, the tougher time I have keeping my BICHOK. For those of you non-writers, or newby writers who are unfamiliar with the acronym, we're talking Butt In Chair and Hands on Keyboard...LOL!!!

It goes something like this...the sun fills my office with warmth and soul-satisfying light, a fabulous breeze blows in from the windows I seldom shut this time of year, and Sweet Man and I just got the motorcycle ready for another wonderful few months of terrific rides.

How can I make time for BICHOK?

This might surprise you, but for this RomCom Queen, it's not so bad. Although granted it's a wee bit more challenging than when the snow's drifted up against half my patio doors. Oh well, I'm making my deadlines. So all's well.

I've always been one of those writers, and you can throw the tiniest of cyber stones my way if you so choose, who knows no such thing as writer's block. I've always got something to fill new pages. It comes from years of talking to myself when no one else felt like listening to my ramblings. But that doesn't mean I don't have to work at keeping a pace that will get me to a three-book a year schedule. That's about 1200 pages a year to work-in along with the business-side of writing as a career, the promo opportunities, and my craft development.

Ohhhhh yeahhhhh...were talking time is of the essence and beyond in the D. D. Scott world.

But thanks to Harlequin Blaze author Tawny Weber, I've discovered a fantastic new trick using Timer-Writing. Yep, we're talking using the 'ole kitchen timer. 'Course I'm not much of a cook. So I can now use the darn thing that's magnetized to my frig and must be feeling wayyyyy neglected by now. In fact, I might splurge and get myself one of those too cute rooster or egg-shaped time-tracker gadgets. Not sure what that does to my office Feng Shui or astrologically sound set-up, but I've always been a bunch off the charts and outside the box.

Timer-Writing simply means you crank that baby up to however many minutes/hours you want, get your BICHOK, and produce some pages. That's it! How fun is that?!

Now the secret will be training your family - as if they were Pavlov's dogs - to keep their salivations to themselves 'til your timer dings that your done for that writing stint.

Tawny is not only a brilliant writer - if you haven't read her latest series, go get it right now (her April release "Coming on Strong" and May release "Going Down Hard" should still be in bookstores...if not, grab them online while you can) - but she's also a wonderful teacher on great topics like Courting Your Muse. Check out her website at www.TawnyWeber.com

That's it for today. So keep your BICHOK!!! And don't forget some fabulous rooster or egg-shaped timer or whatever shape works with your mojo.
